Yes. Mental health conditions can be covered, subject to medical screening and the terms of your policy.
What this article helps you do
This article explains what information you may need to provide about a mental health condition and some important exclusions to be aware of.
What will I need to tell you?
When completing medical screening, we will need the name of your mental health condition and answers to the medical questions we ask.
Depending on your circumstances, this can include whether you have:
- taken prescribed medication in the last two years
- received medical treatment or advice in the last two years, including through a hospital, clinic, GP surgery or remote consultation
- been offered palliative care
- been advised of a terminal illness
You must provide full and accurate information about your medical conditions. We are unable to cover undiagnosed conditions.
Are there any exclusions?
Yes. Some situations are not covered. These include suicide or attempted suicide.
The policy also excludes circumstances where you are compulsorily detained as a psychiatric patient because you did not take prescribed medication for a pre-existing medical condition.
Other terms and exclusions may apply depending on your circumstances.
Still need help?
If you are unsure how to declare a mental health condition, speak to an adviser.
Eligibility, terms and exclusions apply. Please refer to your policy documents for full details.
