What conditions do I need to meet?
For cover to apply:
- the dialysis must be considered necessary by a medical practitioner as routine treatment of your condition while you are on holiday
- your condition must have been diagnosed, declared and covered on your policy
- you must not be travelling abroad solely to receive dialysis treatment
- you must not be travelling to receive a form of dialysis that is unavailable in the UK
- your GP or specialist medical professional must confirm that you are fit to travel
- you must make sure suitable facilities are available at your destination to provide your dialysis safely
You should also confirm with your treating medical specialist that your condition is stable and unlikely to deteriorate before your scheduled return date.
What dialysis costs are not covered?
Your travel insurance does not cover the cost of planned or pre-booked dialysis treatment.
You also cannot claim for:
- complications that arise as a result of pre-booked dialysis treatment
- the cost of pre-booked dialysis treatment if you are unable to travel as planned
What if my health changes before I travel?
You must tell us if your health, medical condition or medication changes before departure.
You should also consult your medical practitioner and make sure you are still fit to travel.
