This article explains what you need to do if you or someone else you want to insure has been given a terminal prognosis.
When cover may still be available
You may still be able to get cover if:
- your GP or medical practitioner confirms that your prognosis is not less than six months from your planned return date
- your GP or medical practitioner confirms that you are fit to travel
- you tell us about the terminal prognosis when arranging or updating your cover
Having a terminal prognosis does not automatically mean that cover can or cannot be provided. Your circumstances will need to be discussed with us.
What do I need to tell you?
You must tell us if you or anyone else to be insured has been given a terminal prognosis.
You must also answer medical questions fully and accurately. The policy does not cover a medical condition where you know you have a terminal condition but have not told us.
What if my health changes after I buy my policy?
You must tell us and consult your medical practitioner if you or anyone insured:
- develops a new medical condition
- has a change to an existing medical condition
- has a change to their medication
You should tell us about any changes as soon as possible and before you travel.
What if I am not fit to travel?
Cover may not apply if you travel when you are not fit to travel or if you travel against the advice of a medical practitioner.
