If your health, medical condition or medication changes after you buy your policy, you must tell us as soon as possible and before you travel.
What this article helps you do
This article explains which medical changes you need to tell us about and how to update your details before your trip.
What medical changes do I need to tell you about?
Please update us if you or anyone insured on the policy:
- develops a new medical condition or receives a new diagnosis
- has a change to an existing medical condition
- starts new medication or has existing medication changed
- receives a terminal prognosis or is offered or receives palliative care
- is referred to hospital or placed on a waiting list for tests or treatment
- has new surgery planned, even if it seems minor
- has tests or investigations for symptoms or a condition that has not yet been diagnosed
You must also consult your medical practitioner about relevant changes to your health.
When should I tell you?
Tell us as soon as possible. You must update us before you book or start your journey, or pay the balance or any further instalments for your trip.
Depending on what has changed, we may change the premium or amend, restrict or cancel your cover.
How do I update my medical information?
You can view and update your medical details through the online customer portal.
You can also call 0330 400 1381 to amend your policy, add a medical condition or discuss your cover.
Have your policy number available and explain what has changed.
What if nothing has changed?
Check your Policy Schedule to make sure your medical information is correct. If nothing has changed, you do not need to update your medical details.
Is there an administration fee?
The current policy wording states that a £15 administration fee applies to policy changes made after the 14-day cooling-off period. No administration fee applies to changes made during the cooling-off period.
An additional premium may also apply following a medical update. Any change to your premium should be confirmed before your policy is updated.
What if I forget to update my medical details?
If you do not provide full and accurate information when your circumstances change, your cover could be invalid and a claim may be rejected.
Speak to an adviser if your health, medical condition or medication has changed and you are unsure what needs updating.
Eligibility, terms and exclusions apply. Please refer to your policy documents for full details.
