What does Winter Sports cover include?

With the Winter Sports optional extra, you’ll be covered for a range of activities and benefits designed to give you extra peace of mind on your trip. You can add it to your policy for an additional premium.
If added outside the 14-day cooling-off period, a £15 administration fee may apply.

Activities covered are:

  1. Bobsleighing*
  2. Cat skiing
  3. Cross country skiing
  4. Freestyle skiing*
  5. Glacier walking or trekking (under 3000m) (Requires hazardous activities)
  6. Ice climbing under 100m (fully supervised) *
  7. Ice fishing
  8. Ice hockey*
  9. Luge on snow/ice*
  10. Monoskiing
  11. Off piste skiing/snowboarding (except in areas considered to be unsafe by resort management)
  12. Recreational ski or snowboard racing
  13. Skeletons*
  14. Ski acrobatics*
  15. Ski bob racing*
  16. Ski racing or training (non-professional) *
  17. Ski stunting*
  18. Ski touring (with a guide)
  19. Ski/snowboard fun parks*
  20. Skiing
  21. Snowmobiling*
  22. Snowboarding
  23. Tobogganing.

Please note: Activities in the above list marked with * carry an increased medical excess of £250 and cover under the Personal Accident and Personal Liability sections does not apply.

You will not be covered if you take part in the following winter sports activities: Ski flying, ski jumping or ski mountaineering.

Benefits of cover:

  • loss of ski equipment (up to £1,500).
  • up to £750 for hiring replacement ski equipment (£75 per day) if your own equipment is delayed in reaching you.
  • up to £510 for pre-paid ski pack costs because of serious injury or illness.
  • up to £500 for piste closure if there is a lack of snow preventing you from skiing (£50 per day).
