Natural Disaster Cover must be added to your policy, the appropriate additional premium must be paid and the cover must be shown on your Policy Schedule.
What can extended missed departure cover help with?
Extended missed departure cover can help with suitable additional accommodation, on a room-only basis, and necessary travel expenses to reach your overseas destination or return to the UK when:
- the public transport you were booked on is cancelled, delayed for more than 12 hours, diverted or redirected after take-off
- other scheduled public transport fails
- you are involuntarily denied boarding because there are more passengers than available seats, no suitable alternative flight is available within 12 hours, and the alternative transport offered is unsuitable
Natural Disaster Cover only applies where the travel disruption is caused directly or indirectly by a natural disaster.
It does not apply to trips that are solely within your home country.
How is the amount paid calculated?
Any refund you receive for your ticket and any compensation from the public transport operator will be deducted when calculating the amount payable.
You cannot claim under both extended delayed departure cover and extended missed departure cover for the same event. If the same costs are covered elsewhere in your policy, you can only claim those costs under one section.
